Christmas Party 2006
The store is put back to normal as the Christy’s Bridal/Anderson/Webley Chiropractic annual Christmas party has come and gone. Every dress is put back on it’s shelf, every ounce of spilled wine and beer is cleaned up, and the quiet little shop I have grown to love is just that today…quiet.
While I don’t think we’ll be hosting such a grand event at the little salon any time soon again, I do have to say that the night came together really nicely and that little shop can accommodate some five star decorations and make you feel as though you’re paying $100 for your plate of dinner at a cozy restaurant down town Chicago…even though you’re really partying in a bridal salon in Burlington, WI =)
But the event didn’t come without its stress. After closing the salon on Friday to prep for the weekend’s festivities, Melinda, my mom and I spent all day (and well into the evening) on Friday, cleaning up and moving out everything being held on the first floor of our tiny shop. Dresses were crammed into fitting rooms, decorations were put into closets, and 5 round tables covered in rich linens now filled the room that once held hundreds of dresses and racks. Decorating came next and by Saturday at 5:00 the room was full of Christmas cheer and the caterers had arrived…as well as the guests.
Louise’s out of Milwaukee did a fabulous job with the catering and I enjoyed my food immensely! After dinner we played a few Christmas party games, did a few too many shots, and I called it a night around 12:30. The party itself wrapped up around 3:30, with the last of the party animals stumbling their way home, and by Sunday the Christmas Party was over and what was left was a disastrous store and a day full of cleaning ahead of us.
I was pretty hung over on Sunday, and I wasn’t much help in the cleaning department, but I did what I could under the circumstances. As we swept, mopped, and dragged dresses back to the salon we laughed at how much work was put into a 6 hour event. Never again we said…never again.
But it was sure fun while it lasted.

Vegas 2006
I’ve been trying for the past couple of days to find the right way to describe my trip to Las Vegas this weekend and I’m finding myself at a loss of words. What I have been able to pull from my four days there is this:
- I took lots of drunken PICTURES.
- It was HOT. 110, can’t stay out in the sun for more than 10 minutes at a time HOT! I loved it!!!!
- I still can’t believe I had to fly on the day when the alleged terrorist plot was stopped and travel was in return delayed and a bit chaotic. Way to add to my already tremendous fear of flying!!
- Bally's was the best place for us to stay. Innexpensive, and right on the strip
- Front of the Line passes are the way to go if you plan on going to the hot clubs. Even if you paid to be on it, it’s still fun to walk to the front of the massive line and say “I’m on the list”.
- Everyone in their lifetime needs to experience Ghostbar. Even if you only stay long enough for a few martinis and to learn a new phrase: “Silly Hot”.
- Looking hot and being brought up to the VIP room at RAIN nightclub is reason enough to have a big ego for the evening…especially when it’s accompanied by free vodka drinks!
- Vegas boasts some of the most fabulous clubs, and fabulously nice people! Apparently everyone that visits either comes from California…or Oshkosh, WI.
- I still have dreams about the gorgeous Go-Go dancers at Studio 54.
- I HATED Coyotee Ugly and hated Harrah’s even more!
- Travel the strip by city bus. It’s cheaper, and much more entertaining!
- Nickel slots suck. Can anyone even win anything on those?
- Three nights out and two full hot days is enough to make you crave your own bed and the cooler weather of Wisconsin. I had a blast, but was ready to come home.

Tara and I started out our Saturday festivities with martini’s at the Hi-Hat near my apartment and by the time Erin arrived at my apartment around 6:30 that evening, we were half in the bag already. *cheers to summer*. We polished off a bottle of champagne with Erin at my apartment, chatted about wedding stuff (sorry Tara), then headed back to the Hi-Hat to get one last drink, and a free ride to Summerfest.

The bus took a bit longer than we had anticipated, and we didn’t end up getting to the grounds until close to 9:30 which put a damper in our evenings plans but we weren’t willing to sacrifice any portion of the evening: Saz’s, booze, and Pink. We would just have to hurry along this way.

We hurried over to the Saz’s stand, waited in an obnoxiously long line (which is pretty common for the famous restaurant) and pigged out on our combination platters on our way to the Briggs and Stratton stage on the South end of the grounds. We quickly grabbed a drink (a beer for me, mixed drinks for Tara and Erin) and headed to the stage, disappointed to find that actually seeing Pink was going to be a pretty hard feat to accomplish.

Annoyed at some of the Summerfest patrons, and sick of hearing Erin complain about not being able to see Pink, I decided to lead the group up the front of the stage, in hopes of getting a better glimpse of pink. I was sadly mistaken as I realized the further up we went, the more condensed the bleachers became and the harder it was to see above the screaming heads. We got a few quick glimpses, enough to say we actually “saw” Pink that day, and hurried back out the way we came.

Ready to leave, we decided to foot it the rest of the way home (my brilliant idea) and I think about 45 minutes later we finally made it to my apartment…ready for bed.

It was a great end, to a terrific 11 days of fun. I can’t wait to do it all over again next year!

Fourth of July

I’ve been there three days so far, and have three more lined up. Thursday’s outing was by far the most intense but Sunday’s trip was equally as entertaining. Katie, her sister Julie, and Julie’s friend showed up to my apartment around 6:00 and we headed down to the grounds, Cabby top down, boppin’ away to the sounds of Brittney and Rihanna. Parking is always absurd around Summerfest, but luckily we found a lot close enough spot for only $7 (a steal of a deal).
We started off the night with…Saz’s of course…and made our way to the Harley Davidson Stage to watch Pat McCurdy perform (One of Katie’s favorites). He was AWESOME. He had this unique gift of being able to get the crowd jumping and singing to anything he decided to spit out of his mouth. I laughed hysterically as I watched the crowd turn from hick to hip hop in a matter of seconds and they laughed along the entire time. He had quite the following and not to mention the Dirks Bently concert had begun to draw quite the crowd at the stage as well, so by 8:30 we were pretty much trapped on our bleacher seats. I guess we were staying for the concert =)

At 9:00 A CMT producer came on stage and informed us all that this specific concert was going to be televised on July 16 and we laughed at how random it all seemed. Here we were, stuck on these bleachers, and were about to be televised on national television. I love Summerfest. =)
The concert was awesome. I had never heard of Dirks Bently prior to the concert, but I left a full fledged fan. I even went out and bought his newest CD the next day. He was personable, and fun, and super cute. Minus the drunken morons that frequent Summerfest, we girls managed to have a fantastic time.

My third trip to Summerfest came a bit spontaneously. Tara and I woke up early Tuesday morning and decided we wanted to go see Kenney Chesney that night. 10 minutes later, we had 15th row seats…I was pumped. Before the concert however, we had plans to meet up with Katie and Mary at Miller Park for the brewer’s game that afternoon. We met them in the Petit National Ice Center parking lot at 10:00 and made our way to the stadium.
Only in Wisconsin can you enter a place at 10:00 in the morning, and find the parking lot full of people with grills, lawn chairs, and plastic footballs. If there’s one thing us ‘sconies are known for, it’s our ability to drink. *cheers to us* ha ha.
Anyways, we grilled out and drank in the parking lot until well after the 4th inning and finally made our way inside the stadium. It was Bobble Head Day and we were WAY excited about leaving with our free little toy. However, we soon realized that you cannot expect stock to remain well into the 5th inning and so we left instead with a blue “rain check” for our bobble heads. We were a bit disappointed.

We left the stadium at the top of the 9th inning, still bitching about not receiving our Bobble Heads. We decided to wait out the crowd and play a few games of cards outside our car and we ended up meeting a group of really great people who were waiting out the crowd as well. A nearby Chicago girl had heard us all bitching about how we never received our Bobble Heads, so she came over and dropped hers off at our table…she was never going to use it again. We were like kids in a candy store. I have never seen four grown women more excited about a Bobble Head in my life! We took pictures, and named it, and talked to it…it was a little ridiculous. But I suppose that’s what alcohol will do to you sometimes =)

After the game, Tara and I made our way to Summerfest and soon after to the Kenney Chesney concert at the Marcus Amphitheatre. We had fantastic seats (as we usually do when it comes to Kenney) but I was a bit disappointed in the concert itself. The entire show just seemed awfully random to me. Generally when I go to a concert, the headliner lets you know that he’s going to be starting…in some way. The lights go off, the music plays, there’s a moment of anticipation. But for whatever reason, there wasn’t any of that. Suddenly I just hear “Summertime” playing, and I look behind me and he’s standing on some bleacher singing in the middle of the theatre. What?! Um...okay there’s Kenney. As the rest of the concert went on, random people came out and sang with him. Sugarland. Why? Uncle Cracker...from where?! I just found myself trying to stay focused and enjoy what was going on, but was being way over stimulated =)

Regardless of the randomness of the concert, I enjoyed myself immensely. It was the best Fourth of July I’ve had in a long time. I love summer! I’m so happy that it’s finally here.

Summerfest 2006...Day 1
After work on Thursday, Katie D and her two friends showed up at my apartment, ready to party it up, the way Milwaukeeans do. We mixed a few Rum and Cokes, girlified ourselves, and headed out the doors at 8:30 destined for the Milwaukee lakefront. We had a bit of trouble figuring out transportation but luckily we met a very nice woman, and a very helpful bus driver, and we were able to get ourselves to the lakefront with very little hassle. I’m really bad at telling stories, so I won’t go into detail about the bus ride and events leading up to it. But luckily, we made it =)

We started off the night with a Miller Light and an REO Speedwagon concert. We only caught the last couple of songs, but were there long enough to hear “Roll with the Changes”, “Keep on Loving you” and “Ridin’ the Storm Out”. I was sad to have missed “Can’t Fight This Feeling” but what can you do right?

After REO was finished, we made our way to Jo-Jo’s Martini lounge, sipped on a few Cosmopolitans, and awaited the Big Bang fireworks. The fireworks were amazing, a little long, but still amazing. They really are the best fireworks display all year…in the state of Wisconsin I think! Not that I’ve seen that many to compare it too, but I’m sure it’s up there!
For the remaining couple hours we spent some time at the Harley Davidson stage watching Common and then headed to the Miller Light Oasis to watch the Bodeins. At 12:30 the grounds closed and we made our way back to my apartment for some Pizza Shuttle, sobering talk, and a pass out session =)
I’m hoping to make it to Summerfest a few more times before it all ends. I’ll definitely be there on Sunday with Katie again for the Love Monkeys and then on Monday for Phil Vassar and Keith Anderson with Tara. Thursday is The Frey and Saturday Pink is playing and I’m going to try really hard to make it to that as well. Luckily I have a free ticket in my wallet to utilize. Summerfest is getting quite expensive! But it’s totally worth it. $15 gets you inside the grounds, and access to a ton of bands….FOR FREE! It’s the greatest festival ever! For anyone not from Milwaukee…get your ass up this way. You’re missing out on a fantastic time.

Memorial Day Weekend '06
The weekend kicked off on Friday as I hurried home from work to meet up with Tara, her roomate Dobry (Jeni) and Ashley for a night of grilled food and beer. We (read: them) cooked up hamburgers, hot dogs, steaks, corn on the cobb and some baked beans and hurried upstairs to enjoy a fresh grilled meal.
Fast forward a half hour.
With full bellies we assessed the beer situation and decided we had plenty to keep us going all night. Thus, with beers in hand we busted out the board games...my favorite part of friendly get togethers. We started off with Yahtzee, as Ashley insisted she wasn't drunk enough yet for a game of Cranium and she proceeded to kick our asses in the coming rolls of the dice. Saddened at my defeat, I pulled out Cranium, ready for a game I KNEW I could win.
Drunken Cranium is probably on my list of top 5 things to do at a get together. I never laugh harder than I do while watching someone try to draw "Rock, Paper, Scissors" without looking at the paper, while their partner continuously yells "Square, Apple, Scissors", all the while thinking her guess is perfectly accurate given the picture being drawn. We never ended up finishing the game, but Tara and I were way ahead by the time we called it quits to play Circle of Death (more commonly called in B-Town, Kings Cup) =) We again failed to finish the game as Dobry left to vomit and Ashley and I engaged in an argument about whether feemer and leaner rhymed (which I must digress and admit I was wrong). It was then, we decided to call it a night.
I awoke early Saturday for work, which ended up being slower than usual, making it for a touch day to sit and stare, and wish you weren't hung over. At least I had the evening to look forward to, as Katie and I made plans for a late night out at our favorite B-Town bar: John's Main Event.
We arrived at 11:00 to a semi-crowded bar, but still managed to secure ourselves a seat at the bar, and a few rounds of shots courtesy of our favorite bartender. Seeing as how our money was obviously no good there, we decided to plug the juke-box with dollars and fill the bar with the sounds of Katie/Christi music. Def Leopard's "Pour Some Sugar On me" always gets me into the partying mood, so we opted for a few more shots, a few more drinks, and plenty of friendly run ins with old friends. But alas, at 2:00 a fight had broken out, dampening the mood of the night so we left the bar, destined for some late night eats at White Fox Den. Bed time didn't come until around 5:00 and I dragged myself out of bed three hours later to get to work.
I spent two hours at the salon on Sunday then quickly closed up and drove home to meet Tara at my apartment. I threw on a tank top, grabbed my flip-flops, and we were out the door, ready for a day by the lake.
We strolled to Altera, wandered through the Kite Festival and spent a lot of time lounging around on picnic tables, talking and people watching. It was the perfect way to spend a 90 degree day in Milwaukee. As dusk fell, we opted for an easy night in, rented a few movies, and by 9:30 I was sleeping on the couch.
Finally, memorial day came and the sun was shining as beautifully as it had the day before. I jumped out of bed, threw my swimsuit on, and we headed, with the Cabby's drop top down, to the beach to spend a few hours lounging in the sun. A few hours quickly turned into a half hour and we realized we had less time to spend there than we had originally hoped. It was a wonderful half hour though.
Tara and I reloaded up the Cabby and drove to the Metro Market to pick up BBQ essentials for our cookout with Erin and Dave. We loaded up on fresh fruit, buns, and of course Metro Market's famous free samples! The Metro Market rocks!
We arrived at Erin and Dave's exactly on time and we chatted for a while (us girls) while Dave manned the gril. Ah yes, the fine display of gender roles =) KIDDING! After dinner we played a few games, Dave kicked our asses in Trivial Pursuit, and so we moved to Taboo where Erin and I dominated the round.
And with that, my weekend ended and I sit her now recapping it and nursing my sunburnt shoulders. As the last weekend in May bring about the first week in June, it also brought with a hint of summer that still remains in the memories of the weekend. But as a cool air blows from the open door in front of me, and the signs of rain linger in the air, I am reminded that this summer is indeed still around the corner. I just can't wait for it to fully arrive!

Heather and Eric's Bachelor/Bachelorette Party
I had never been to a joint stag party before and I was curious to find out just how something like that would come together. But take out the clich strippers, take out the cheesy party games, and your left with a group friends just out to have a good time, and celebrate true love. It was a great evening!
We started off with dinner at Houlihans in Lake Geneva. I was a little sad that our entire wasnt able to sit together, but we made it work none-the-less with our two tables. We all sat side by side our couples (minus oneMINE) and chatted amongst ourselves over martinis, beer, and a tequila shot for Eric. Oh, and two BIG ASS Sunset Martinis for Eric and I, and Greta and Wendell. At around 10:00 we were all full and ready to begin the evening. Our first stopChamps.
The couple of honor wanted to go out dancing, but at 10:00 there wasnt going to be too much happening, so Champs seemed the perfect place to get our drink on for a bit, while waiting for the crowd at Hogs and Kisses to arrive. We had a few more drinks, and laughed as Amanda told off a very rude man for staring at my ass. You can always count on her to speak up thats for sure! Greta met a nice fella who proceeded to buy the entire party drinks and after a round of free drinks, we were ready for some dancing at Hogs.
Hogs was packed, as it usually is on a Saturday night, but we had no problems squeezing our way through the people and on to the dance floor. The music was a bit old school and I was disappointed that the DJ didnt know many of the songs we were requesting, but with good company you can dance the night away to pretty much anything. So it all worked out.
Our last stop in our bachelor/bachelorette tour of Lake Geneva was Carvettis and overly packed bar already at capacity by the time we arrived. It took some convincing on our part but we finally convinced the bouncer to let us in, with the stipulation that we went right to the outside patio. He heard no complaints from me. We pushed our way through the crowd of people, and planted ourselves at a table outside. Ahhh, a chance to relax and talk. It was probably a good thing that we never ended up making our way back out to the dance floor because after sitting for a bit and talking, the majority of us realized just how tired we were and so within an hour, we had all gone our respective ways and the fun of the bachelor/bachlorette party was a growing memory.
But the fun is not over, and its truly just beginning. In two weeks we will all reconvene, this time to celebrate the official union of these two high school sweethearts. On May 5th, Heather Cawley and Eric Whitten will become Mr. and Mrs. Whitten and well all be there to witness and celebrate it. I cant wait.
I apologize for the lack of pictures, but Blogger has been giving me nothing but grief all day long. For whatever reason, it won't let me post!!! So, if you want to see the pictures from the evening...

Easter 2006
Katie was in town again this weekend for Easter, so the two of us headed out for another evening out in B-Town. John’s Main Event is becoming a major favorite of ours, especially considering my drink hookup there on Saturday nights =) We chatted amongst ourselves for the first hour and soon found ourselves immersed in a game of bar dice with a few high school classmates. I refused to play dice for money, and instead insisted on playing for shots. You can imagine the shape I was in after about 12 rounds of dice. Word of advice: DO NOT PLAY DICE FOR SHOTS. TAKE THE MONEY WHEN YOU CAN =)
The people of the bar began to filter out and head to the Blue Carpet, but Katie and I hung back a bit to listen to the songs she played on the Juke Box and chat a bit more with Steve. Around 1:30 we made our way to the Blue Carpet for a bit of dancing and by 2:00 I was far from done and needed to go home and sleep.
Sunday I awoke with quite the hangover but I tried to put on the best face I could for my mom’s family as they started to arrive around 12:00 for our Easter get together. It was a failed attempt though, and I ended up spending most of the day on the couch with my little cousins, watching movies. Once Madagascar was put in though, the rest of my mom’s family piled into the living room and we all curled up for the next hour and a half. It was a nice little bonding session over a ton of laughs. It’s a great movie!
Around 3:00 my aunt tried to motivate me, and so we took a trip to Adrian’s to treat the fam to a few quarts of their tasty custard. It was a great little outing and put my stomach over the edge. I was stuffed for the rest of the night. Between the ham and the potatoes, and the deserts, the custard…I was stuffed! I left my parents house around 7:00 and went right home to bed. I was exhausted and full =) The perfect way to sleep he he.

Pure Perfection!
My weekend began on Saturday with an extremely busy bridal salon. Wedding season is in full bloom and the brides were out and shopping! Adding to the hustle of the salon, were the procrastinating prom girls, out to get a look at the last of the season’s dresses before they disappear for good. 8 hours later the store was finally quiet again, and I was on my way out the door to meet up with a good friend for drinks.
I hadn’t been to Katie D’s house in YEARS, probably since High School, so it was nice to reminisce a bit around the house I called my second home for so many years. I chatted with her dad for a bit, commented on how old her little sister had gotten (seriously last time I saw her she was like 10...now she's 15 and dating!!!!), and then headed out with my bubbly blonde friend for some drinks in good old Lake Geneva.
We started things out at Champs, ended up meeting up with Dave, and then the three of us headed over to Cavarellis (I may be WAY off in that bar name) for a few more drinks and a shot. As the night wore on though, the music intensified and we decided to leave in search of a more chill avenue (this was definitely not a night out for dancing…we had catching up to do!). We ended up back in Burlington, at John’s Main Event, where we met up with my mom and some old High School classmates that we hadn’t seen in many years as well. Katie and Dave played pool, I played darts and chatted, and before I knew it, it was 2:00 and I had to get going. I hugged Katie goodbye in the middle of the street and we planned for our next outing. Dancing next weekend anyone? =)
I drove back to Milwaukee after leaving the bar and curled up next to Tara, thrilled that I had the entire day off on Sunday to just laze around, and spend with her.
We awoke around 9:00, made some coffee, and hung around the apartment for a few hours before finally showering and getting a move on to enjoy the gorgeous spring day that lay ahead of us! I took her to the sporting goods shop on Capital Drive so she could pick out a bat and some softball equipment for the upcoming softball season. For Christmas I had purchased her a gift certificate so she could FINALLY buy a nice bat for herself, and she left satisfied with her brand new DeMarini F2 bat. I know nothing about bats, but it sure is pretty =)
Already in a shopping mood, we decided to head over to Wheel and Sprocket to check out their bike sale, and pick out a pair for us to enjoy this summer (she insists on buying me one for my birthday). We know nothing about biking and were overwhelmed with the choices! Mountain Bikes, Hybrid bikes, racing bikes, tall bikes, short bikes, girl bikes, boy bikes…what happened to the days of pink standard bikes with pom poms on the handles!!
We hung around for an hour and half attempting to figure out, on our own, which bike would fit out needs. We tried unsuccessfully to attract the attention of a sales associate to help us with our questions and we laughed at the “May I help you” options we came up with. I finally just started to ring the little bell attached to one of the bikes I had parked myself on and I think it helped because a few minutes later we finally had a sales associate to answer our questions. 2 hours in Wheel and Sprocket and all we were able to find out is that we need a Hybrid bike, size 18 (for me) and 17.5 (for her). I guess we’re one step closer to buying a bike though! Yay!
The rest of the day we just spent running errands: Target for birthday presents for her neice and nephew, Barnes and Nobles for more birthday presents, and finally Pick ‘n Save for some food so we could grill out. There is no more perfect end to a perfect day than hamburgers and corn on the cobb on the grill! I love Sundays.

Martinis, laughter, and one Icelandic Princess
Thus, we took some much needed bonding time last night and plopped ourselves at the bar at The Knickerbocker for some fab martinis, a few shots, and a lot of laughs and catching up. Mid way through our evening, a mob of people came strolling the doors of the quiet little bar, including one Icelandic Princess, Anna. She was in from Iceland promoting the Icelandic Vodka Reyka. She bought us all a round of shots and Nicky and I chatted with her posse who reminded us more of the New York Mafia. After about an hour at the bar they were ready to party hop a bit more, and off they were.
What began as a chill night with a few martinis, ended in laughter over meeting the Princess of Iceland. What a night! =)

A Holy Jolly Christmas

This first weekend in December brought in many holiday festivities for both myself, my friends, and my family.
Thursday I enjoyed my day off at Mayfair Mall, with my Aunt Linda, Cousins Bridget and Carol, and of course my mom. We met up bright and early for breakfast at 9:00 and then Christmas shopped all morning and afternoon. We even took a detour break for a plop on Santa's lap, and lunch at Panera. YUMMY!
At 2:00 my mom and I left the Koshick girls to head to Brookfield for our facial appointments at Azana Salon and Spa. We LOVE a good facial (we're becoming quite the connoisseurs). The salon is actually really great and we were pleasantly surprised that such a great facial came at such a reasonable price! We'll definitley be back.
After our facials, my mom and I parted ways and I headed to Target to purchase a few last minute Christmas items: Christmas Tree, a few ornaments, and of course some wrapping paper. I was then off to my apartment to spend the evening decorating my tree and wrapping my newly purchased presents. Ryan came down and helped me "fluff" the branches of my artifical tree and Nikki and Adam came strolling in a few minutes later with plans to head to the Hi-Hat for a martini or 2 (who could pass up THAT invitation). I finished putting the finishing touches on my tree, then headed to meet up with them for a Martini which quickly turned into one martini, one lemon drop shot, and a bottle of Spotted Cow.

Strolling back to our apartment, Nikki and Karen helped me to decorate the tree (keep in mind, they're Jewish) while Adam showered, and within an hour we had the tree decorated and we were ready to head out again for the night.
I got up Friday with a bit of a hangover, but had to put on my "A-Game" quickly as there was much to do back in Burlington that day. It was December 2nd, the day of the Burlington Area Christmas Parade, and Christy's Bridal had float number 35 to assemble. My dad spent the morning drilling and hammering, while my mom and I dressed the manequins and fluffed the trees. We closed down the shop at 5:00, pre-partied in the salon with some champagne and hot cocoa and whiskey, then dressed and headed down to Kane street to line up.
It was REALLY cold outside but the adrenaline of the parade kept us all really warm (plus I'm sure the whisky helped). At 6:30 the parade began to move, Steve and I hopped onto the float while Patty and my mom walked (read: sprinted) alongside the float handing out candy to the little mittened hands along the parade route.Steve and I danced the night away but unfortunatley half way through the parade we lost power, including our music. We improvised though, and laughed while we danced to nothing but the hoots and hollers from the crowd.

Saturday was a very much needed recovery day, as can be expected, I was CHILLED to the bone after being outside in the freezing cold in nothing but a wedding dress (and a few layers). Due to the snow I was stuck in Burlington, so I spent the evening watching Christmas movies with my mom, and relaxing in a hot, HOT bath.
Sunday came, and my parent's apartment was filled with people by 10:00. It was time for our anual Christmas cookie baking get together. The girls bake, while the kids decorate (I get to be included in the kids portion of the get together) and about 6 hours later I left with 4 plates full of FABULOUS cookies. I love cookie baking time =)You'd think with a festive weekend such as mine I'd be a little burnt out on the holiday season but I'm most definitley not. The ground is white, the lights are bright, and music is still magnificent! I'm cheerful as ever and am looking forward to the coming weeks.
St. Nick comes tonight everyone! Horray! =)

A Week for Reunions
The week started off Wednesday night as a bunch of my old High School friends came over to my parent's apartment for some pre-bar drinks and some catching up. For most of us it had been a year since we'd seen each other, so of course there was much to catch up on. I mean ROSEMARY just had a BABY!!! HELLO! The girls stood in the kitchen and talked up a storm, while the boys sat in the living room watching the game until it was time to head out to the bars, a typical tradition in the Burlington area the night before Thanksgiving.
The Brickyard offered up some yummy shots, some cheap drinks, and a night of dancing and more old friends. I was even offered up an apology from a very old friend for apparently hitting on my boyfriend Freshman year of High School. Hmmmm =) In the past, I'm over it!
Pictures from the evening!
I woke up the next morning with quite the hangover, but with a huge smile on my face because of the amazing time I had just had with everyone. I truly, truly missed them all!
Thanksgiving was great, I got to see my Uncle David (my dad's Identical Twin) so that was a plus, and as always the food was fantastic.
Then, Tuesday (this morning) rolled around and I found myself back in Burlington, at White Fox Den, having breakfast with my three grade school best friends. GRADE SCHOOL! They sure hadn't changed at all. Beth was still immature Beth, Carrie is still mature mommy Carrie, and Jenny will forever be that excentric non-stop talker. I'm heading out for drinks tonight with Carrie and Beth which I'm very excited about. I just can't believe that in one week I've reconnected with so many old friends. Of course we've all vowed to not let so much time pass between visits again, but who knows where life will take us all in the next 8 or 9 years. I'm just happy for this week. They've all held special places in my heart, even through all these years.

Happy Halloween!!
As with most things in my life, I procrastinated the Halloween costume purchasing, and resorted to driving around Waukesha at 3:00 that afternoon, in search of some cheap duds (I decided to be a farmer and attempted to make Tara be my cow). Goodwill had nothing, Kohls had nothing, nor did Target. I was feeling defeated. As I was about to drive home Tara called me and mentioned Fleet Farm (DUH!!) and I met her there 25 minutes later, where I found myself some adorably too big overalls and a flannel shirt. I felt a bit oompa loompa'ish but hell, it's Halloween!! I had bought Tara a cow costume on a quick costume run with my brother on Thursday evening, but the costume didn't end up fitting (one size fits all my ass!) so the whole "farmer and cow" idea went down the tube. Oh well, I tried!
The drive to Green Bay went fast as my book on tape kept us very entertained and before we knew it, we arrived at our destination. The party was fun. Low key, with card playing is always a plus in my book. Karnitz busted out the beer bong and as the evening progressed she had somehow convinced me that whop in the beer bong is the way to go, something I regreted in the morning. Around 2:30 the party started to wind down. We threw in a pizza, mowed, then Katie, Tara and I retreated to the basement to pass out.
Saturday we spent the day eating and drinking, which is a cure for any hangover. Nic cooked breakfast then convinced us all that a trip to the bar for bloody mary's was in order (a diet coke for me). Katie kept us entertained with her frequent trips to the tattoo machine, purchasing carefully selected artwork for each of our bodies (an arm band for Tara, a pretty heart for my lower back, and a vivid design for her forearm), and of course the random things that come out of her drunk mouth: "I don't know, but if she dies I get all the shit in her storage bin!"(Katie on her dealing with the ex).
After a nap we were ready for a second go at the bar scene and decided to grab lunch and a beer (again diet coke for me) at a local pub. We played some darts, had some greasy, yummy burgers, then retreated home for a lounge out session in front of the TV. It was after all Halloween and I had yet to watch a scary movie.
By 9:30 we were itching to leave, and made our way to Sass for the Halloween show and costume contest. After a fantastic rendition of Michael Jackson's "Thriller", a very naked man singing to "Rocky Horror Picture Show", and five girls dressed up as a big hand the music began and so did the dancing! Horray!
Yesterday we finally drove back to Milwaukee, and nursed our weekend hangover with three movies, some greasy pizza, and Kettle Korn. The perfect solution.

The Weekend is FINALLY Over!
It started off with a friendly reunion on Friday night. At about 9:00 Katie Daniel came over to my apartment and we hit the streets of Burlington, to start things off. I forgot how much I love that girl!! There has always been such a connection between the two of us. That type of connection where no matter how much time has passed between us both, we can just pick up right where we left off, laughing and talking as if it were only yesterday we had seen each other. The goofiness on both our parts came out immidiatley and we found ourselve immersed in laughter and dancing for the rest of the night. We started things off with a few drinks at Johns Main Event and were able to catch up over a few Coronas (for me) and Wiskey sours (for her). Katie Daniel learned how to drink...who would have thought?! We started to tire of the scene at John's quickly and decided to bar hop through Burlington, in hopes of some fun.
No such luck.
We wandered to The Brickyard where as can be expected nothing was happening, then wandered towards Palm Gardens where again...nothing. Katie and I then looked at each other and almost simultaneously said "Lets go to Lake Geneva".
I was in heaven! Katie Daniel wanted to party..with me. Pretty sure I told her she needed to move back home =) I can't express enough how excited I was about the evening, how excited we both were to be the "Dynamic Duo" again. (Just go with it...an old work nickname).
We drove to Champs, had a few jaeger bombs (my weakness), a few more beers, and danced our little butts off. Dave showed up a while later and we were able to catch up with another face from our past. The night was great! But after being mauled by men, we tired of Champs quickly and decided to wander to Hogs and Kisses to finish up the night with a few more drinks, and some more dancing.
At about 1:00 the three of us drove back to B-Town, headed up the old White Fox Den for some early morning eats, then parted ways. I sure do miss that girl.
The rest of my weekend was spent in Chicago, at the Bridal Trade Show at the Merchandise Mart. For three days I woke at 7, arrived home at 7 and shopped for everything under the bridal sun: bridal gowns, bridesmaids, mother of the bride, accessories, evening wear, tuxedos, flower girls and our largest purchase, PROM! Uy. Seriously, I went to bed last night dreaming of bridal gowns and seeing fashion show after fashion show running through my head!! I'm a little sick of it all. I'm glad to be back to where things can chill out for a while, although we nowhave about 200 different stock items to enter into our system. Welcome to my Tuesday.

Sorry for the Delay Erin
no such luck.
It was a typical Milwaukee weekend in the life of Christi Anderson. I worked Friday all day, went and saw a movie with my mom (Just Like Heaven...SO cute...go see it), then visited the gf in Oak Creek.
Saturday I worked again until 4. I was supposed to get out at 3 but Kaitlin Morall showed up at 3:00 and I felt bad just leaving my mom with her and her mother, so I stuck around and played dress up with her. She's the current reigning Miss Burlington and was looking for pagent-type outfits. While the whole pagenty thing sort of annoys me, it might be kind of nice to have a girl like Kaitlin on our side. Hell, if she chooses to wear one of our dresses and then just HAPPENS to get the crown of Miss Wisconsin, that means OUR dresses are in MISS AMERICA. Hello Donald Trump!
Hmm..okay that tangent aside, I finally got out of work at 4:00 and made my way back to Milwaukee where I picked up Tara and brought her downtown with me. I needed to change and get ready before we headed out for the night.
At 7:00 I picked up Greggor and we were off to The Pint for some pool, darts, and Erotic Photo Hunt =) Now lets talk about this.
I have been able to legally get into a bar for about 2 and a half years now. However, even before that time I was one of the many teenagers graced with a less than fabulous fake-ID, allowing me to frequent certain bars all while in my early years of college. So that's say, 5 years of bar time, give or take a few years. BUT THEN, even BEFORE the bar scene came into play, my childhood basement was the hangout of MANY weekend parties throughout high school involving many friends, and many games of pool and darts in the basement. Therefore, adding another 4 years to the equation and you have a grand total of about 9 years of play time. 9 YEARS. You'd think I'd be pretty good right?
WRONG.
I'm probably the worst pool player you'll ever meet. The cue ball constantly bounces right off the table, that is if I'm even able to hit in the first place (If pool were anything like golf I'd have about 4 or 5 strokes against me before the little triangle is even broke), and god forbid the balls ever go into one of those little pockets on the side of the table. Nope, the only one that tends to go in is that wretched white one. But I always play, and I always raise stakes and talk shit as if I know what's up. "Loser buys shots". Good call Christi. Rack up the credit card bill now!
We lost at darts, we lost at pool, and I finally gave up and sat my butt down in front of some erotic photo hunt which kept us four busy for a good long time. We beat TITI. Horray! But starting early at the bar usually means ending early at the bar, and by 12:00 we were KO'd and ready for bed.
Sunday was spent lazing around the apartment, watching movies and pigging out. LOVE lazy Sundays =) And that brings me to today, working until 7 then probably off to another movie with my mom. (We're big time movie buffs) Hmm, I wonder what we should see.
Any suggestions?

A Thursday Morning Mess
Such is not the case anymore.
I'm hung over, I'm tired, and I'm completely regreting my decision to accompany my roomate and her two friends on a Wednesday night excursion to Champion's.
The night started out nice and chill. I pulled into my driveway a little after 7:30 and was greeted by an already not surprisingly drunk Nikki and her friend Erika. I was all about joining them on the porch I love so much for a glass of a wine and a wind down session before heading off to bed.
But of course nothing can ever be chill when you have Nicole Knauer as your roomate =)
Soon after I arrived, Karen (pronounced K-ah-ren) showed up ready and willing to down a few 40's and Joey came by already drunk. Needless to say my one glass of wine turned into two and then the brilliant idea to go out arose and off we were.
You know the night is going to be rough when you're pretty much drunk before you even get to the bar, and before you even leave your house you are the sole instigator of a hit and run. Nikki and I rolled in laughter in the backseat as we witnessed Karen nudging the truck in front of her with her little car. "It was just a love tap guys" Karen laughed out, completely oblivious to the scratch she created on her door. "That was more than a love tap, that was a full blown make-out session"
Thankfully we made it to Champion's safely, and spent the remainder of the night playing Shuffleboard. Has anyone ever played bar shuffleboard? Pretty sure it's the most entertaining thing EVER!! It's my new obsession. Nikki and I got yelled at by the bartender though for being too loud. Apparently we were getting a little too excited, but I was WINNING. How can you not be excited about that? =)
We stayed for a while then Nikki and I decided we'd had enough and wanted to go home. We decided walking home would be a good idea, and started on our way...drinks still in hand. We didn't make it very far as boy upstairs had just arrived at the bar and Karen called summoning us back. Thus, we walked back, said hi to boy then decided we had definitley had enough and hitched a ride home with Laura.
Arriving finally at our beloved apartment, Nikki grabbed a box of Wheat Thins and we sprawled oursleves out on the kitchen floor, discussed life, and tried to work through Nikki and Ryan problems. We came to no drunken conclusions.
After our discussion I pulled myself up, drunk called Tara, then did my typical vomit after a night of drinking these days. Ugh, what happened to the girl that could hold her alcohol. She DEFINITLEY does not exist anymore =(
So after one adventurous Wednesday evening, I'm paying the consequences on this Thursday morning. I dont' want to be at work, I want to be home in my bed, cuddling up to a movie, and falling asleep.
