I COMMEND YOU! I did it for a year working beer tubs at a club downtown Chicago and I will never do it again. It's too much for me. I can't handle it =)Christihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05637689489060120742noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16703270.post-1159252206652211832006-09-26T01:30:00.000-05:002006-09-26T01:30:00.000-05:00Christi,I have been in the "beverage cart" busines...Christi,
I have been in the "beverage cart" business for close to 17 years. I agree with you on the issues of how men act. The reality, is that were dealing with children in adult body's and a beverage cart attendant is realy an adult babysitter/bartender. We usually ignore there stupidity because the drunker they get the more they give up what we want. Which is exactly what should happen for babysitting there ass. The only thing that really pisses me off is when married men cross the line. I hope this gives you some insite that beverage cart girls aren't idiots for putting up with mens crap we've just figured out a fun and easy way to make money. Not all cart girls put up with it either.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16703270.post-1151070947304054232006-06-23T08:55:00.000-05:002006-06-23T08:55:00.000-05:00Hey Christi! Thanks for your visit to my blog! You...Hey Christi! Thanks for your visit to my blog!

You have a good point there. Sometimes I just wonder if this overly, and overtly, sexual image is truly us "expressing ourselves freely" or whether many young girls simply feel the pressure to be yet another "hot cheerleader" type or "female super hero" - both of which types wear amounts of fabric equal to tissue paper in a small gift bag.

I love being a woman, and being a sexual being. I enjoy the beauty of a strong female body, and I think celebrating and expressing it in ways that strengthens its spirit is awesome. But when it is done to sell or to artificially prop low self-esteem I think it can be as harmful and binding as corsets.Tiahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03522195965279580830noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16703270.post-1150999224659261702006-06-22T13:00:00.000-05:002006-06-22T13:00:00.000-05:00Unfortunatley, this situation is a double edged sw...Unfortunatley, this situation is a double edged sword.

On one end, is our right as women to wear what we want, and to finally be able to express ourselves in whatever way we choose! We no longer have to wear constricting corsets, or long layers of fabriced dresses. We can think, speak, and act for ourselves and it's wonderful.

But then on the other end, is the improper self promotion that we're exuding in this new found freedom. In expressing ourselves freely, we are creating a sexual image and it only encourages the negative feedback for which we've all been so accustomed to hearing.

I know I for one am not willing to revert back to the days of layers and corsets, but I'm also not willing to allow myself to be catcalled at for the rest of my life.

Something must be done =)Christihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05637689489060120742noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16703270.post-1150565018971349062006-06-17T12:23:00.000-05:002006-06-17T12:23:00.000-05:00I wish I had heard that show. It's just sickening ...I wish I had heard that show. It's just sickening to me how the society (really meaning all of us, through our choices as consumers, whether it be media or store purchases) still brainwashes young girls, and women in general, to primarily be sexual objects. Now mind you, I love attention as much as the next girl, and would love to be able to say I'm in great shape and all that, but really, do we need to have it all hanging out, underware showing all over the place? Is it necessary to have plastic surgery at 18? 28? ever? Do women (and little girls??!!) really need to be walking around in clothes that have "hot", "sweety", "da'bomb" written on their asses? I don't get it. Or, rather, I get it - and I hate it. UGH!

ummm...... sorry. I don't even know you and here I am going off on my soap box..... It was great reading some of your stuff. Degrading, yes, but consider how idiotic the men look. Makes it a bit easier to take sometimes.

I'll stay awhile and have a look around. My BF is a WI boy!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
